- The Gods exist, they are acknowledged and recognized as Gods. They mostly occupy a spot somewhere between heads of state and celebrities. They don’t directly rule humanity (do you really want Zeus to decide tax policy?) but they still wield immense influence and power. There’s also a huge celebrity culture around them, as they tend to live as influencers, actors, and business titans.
- Gods tend to be born mortal, living normal lives, though gravitated slightly towards their eventual domain. At some point, they undergo Ascension, an experience where their divinity boils over the surface and becomes a part of them going forward.
- The Pantheon (ruling council of the Gods) is a mixture of divine reincarnations, and the newly divine. As the centuries have passed and as modern society has formed, there’s been new domains that have been filled: technology, media, etc.
- Henrik is the only son of Ilse von Brandt, CEO of one of the largest holding firms in the world, and the Goddess of Finance. (A new domain that was first filled in the early nineteenth century, she’s been holding onto it for about forty years).
- He was raised in and around the Pantheon, both spoiled by his mother and groomed to take some leading role in her company. Tutors, private schools, being on his best behavior for Mother’s colleagues. #richkidproblems.
- Never super wanted to have a corner office and oversee the Asian offices, or whatever Mother had in plan for him. Started to enjoy gardening and cooking as hobbies as a teenager.
- Was honestly a relief when he Ascended. Ilse had some of the other Pantheon over for cocktails, which swiftly devolved into an argument about politics and legacy. Right before the fists started to fly, Henrik stood and told everyone, in a firm voice, to sit down and stop fighting, that they were being ridiculous and petty, and that the caterers were about to arrive.
- Bam, God of the Hearth, Home, and Comfort, right there.
- Ilse’s hopes of him being a corporate boss were swiftly dashed - she’s still a little put out - but she was overjoyed that her darling son was one of them.
- He’s got a cooking and lifestyle blog, From The Hearth. Henrik controls the content and writes articles, but he doesn’t have any head for filming or social media. His people handle that.
